Colleges such as Tech receive funds from three sourcees; tuition payments, state allocations, and alumni contributions. Columbia University has invited Holocaust denier and Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to address its students. Columbia is located in a heavily Jewish area, has a large Jewish enrollment, and a large base of Jewish alumni donors.

In an interview with The New York Sun, the speaker of the Assembly, Sheldon Silver, said lawmakers, outraged over Columbia’s insistence on allowing the Iranian president to speak at its World Leaders Forum, would consider reducing capital aid and other financial assistance to the school.

Tech faces a similar risk. At the same time Tech president, Wayne Clough, is accepting the $15 million Nanotechnology Center from Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus, Tech is sponsoring groups that are sympathetic to extermination of Jews worldwide. Mr. Marcus is Jewish.

The question for Clough is, how much of Tech’s future is he willing to risk with Tech alumni donors and the Georgia Assembly to placate Tech moonbats?

In her work, “The Renewed Woman of American Islam: Shifting Lenses Toward ‘Gender Jihad?’”, she observed, “In response to the modern challenges to Islam, Muslim women are sustaining, resisting, adjusting or changing their historical roles withint contemporary American Muslim circles. The contemporary age has brought forth a whole new Islamic epistemology where scripture-sanctioned gender paradigms play an important role.”

Most assuredly, tor modern Muslim women, the political is definitely personal.

Virginia Tech recently suffered the most massive campus murder in US history. The students and faculty are still trying to rationalize what was fundamentally an irrational act, and Georgia Tech alums decided to lend a hand.

Georgia Tech knows well the threat of terrorism due to the arrest of alleged Muslim jihadist Syed Haris Ahmed last year. Schools of all levels are defensless soft targets and the world is watching how Virginia Tech and America responds to the murder of our youth.

Of particular interest to the Georgia Tech alums was the differences in fatality ratios of the various Virginia classrooms based on how they responded to the threat.

Mr. Cho first entered the Hydrology class where he achieved surprise and killed the teacher and 5 students. The other four occupied classrooms on the second floor each responded in different ways with different outcomes.

The French and German language teachers directed their students to “duck and cover” under their desks. The Computer and Engineering teachers directed their students to defend the doors, and the Engineering Professor ordered the students to kick out the windows and escape.

As a result, after the initial assault on Hydrology:
- In the language classes 17 students died and 10 survived.
- In the Engineering and Computer classes 2 died and 19 survived.

Those in the Computer class successfully defended their door and suffered no fatalities. The Engineering class professor, holocaust survivor Liviu Librescu, successfully defended his door, finally falling after being shot 5 times. All but one of his students survived, most by dropping from the second story window.

One of the survivors of the French class described the shooter calmly walking down the rows of desks and shooting each supine or kneeling student twice in the head. The description is eerily similar to the description of the Columbine high school shooting where 10 of 14 students were shot by Harris and Klebold while ducking under their desks in the library.

The GT group, many of which are veterans going back to World War II, believe that student training could increase the student survival rate in future “active shooter” situations.

In solidarity with the Virginia Tech alums we sent a Texas school security training team to Blacksburg to explain options used in some Texas public schools.

The message to Virginia Tech students and faculty from the security team was, “You do not have to die quietly on your knees. You have options. Use them.”

Those of us who went to Blacksburg could only be impressed by the strength of character of the young men and women leaders on this devastated campus. If the leaders we met are indicative of the next generation, America is in good hands.

Following our visit we received several comments including this one from a Virginia Tech mother describing her daughter’s response to our visit:

“She’s glad she went. And the haunted look on her face was gone when she returned.

Just as we Americans have learned that sitting passively for plane hijackers no longer works, we need to also learn
to feel more empowered against this kind of violence.

I don’t remember the name of the Georgia Tech man, but please thank him and your sponsors for sending your team and for the caring and creative thinking that is obvious by sending you here.”

We have called on Virginia Governor’s Tim Kaine and Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to immediately offer training options to parents and students so that no further American youth need die on their knees.
Unfortunately, some people believe that gay, lesbian, and bisexual people should not be allowed to hold certain positions such as teacher, foster parent, soldier, counselor, religious leader, or police officer.

They fear that GLB people are sexually irresponsible and less trustworthy than heterosexuals. (In fact, it is well documented that the overwhelming majority of those who molest children are heterosexual men.) These beliefs–like those used to discriminate against people on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, physical ability, and gender–are based on prejudice and ignorance rather than on accurate information.

It’s a miracle or maybe it’s just witchcraft. The Georgia Assembly meets in regular session for 40 days. Friday, April 20 was the 40th day. The 2007 legislative regular session is over.

As if by magic, the vanished moonbats have reappeared.

Some claim that Dean Sue Rosser showed nuanced, sophisticaticated, leadership with her vanishing act during the legislative session. Others compare her to the commander defending the unopposed Iraninan kidnapping of 15 British sailors as a ruse so they could spy from prison. Upon closer inspection both smell faintly of cowardice.

Once again we call on Dean Rosser, if you truly believe in your department and your people, stand up and fight like a man.

Two gunmen shot a male and female student eating lunch outside their school. The gunmen then entered the school firing. They proceeded to the library where students had been told to take shelter under the desks. The gunmen methodically went desk to desk and shot each student in the head, taunting some students before killing them.

A lone gunman entered a classroom and ordered the teacher and three parents out. He then separated the girls from the boys and prepared to sexually assault the girls. As they prayed, he shot each girl in the head.

A lone gunman entered a classroom where he separated the men from the women. The men were allowed to leave and the gunman proceeded to shoot all nine of the remaining women.

A lone gunman entered a classroom and shot the teacher in the face. The students hid under their desks as they had been taught. The shooter calmly walked down the aisle of desks and put a bullet in each student’s head, one right after another.

The first situation should be recognized as the Columbine High School shooting. The second was the murders at the Amish school in Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania. The third was the murder of Ecole Polytechnique engineering students by an Algerian Muslim. The fourth was yesterday’s massacre at Virginia Tech.

Three shootings were perpetrated by mentally unstable individuals. The fourth perpetrator was a woman hating Algerian Muslim, not all that different from Mohamed Atta of 911 fame. OK, maybe all four were mentally unstable.

Law enforcement was not a factor in any of the shootings. At Columbine, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold eventually shot themselves after killing 13 and wounding 24. At Nickel Mines, Charles Roberts eventually shot himself after killing 5 and wounding another five, all females under the age of 14. At Ecole Polytechnique, Gamil Gharbi, shot himself after killing fourteen women and wounding another 10. Four men were wounded. At Virginia Tech, Cho Seung-Hui shot himself after killing 32 and wounding 15.

What can we learn from three horribly similar shootings?

1. School desks do not stop bullets.
2. The police will probably arrive in time to call the coroner.
3. Male cowardice kills women.
4. Unarmed civilians do not match up favorably with armed men.

At Columbine, teacher Patti Nielson did the only thing she knew to do. She told the students to “duck and cover.” Ten of the 14 dead were killed while ducking and covering in the library.

In all four of these massacres the killing was completed and the perpetrators had committed suicide by the time the police or SWAT teams arrived. If your plan is to hide under a desk until the police come, you are probably dead.

In what must be judged as one of the most cowardly acts in civilized history, at the Ecole Polytechnique massacre, fifty able bodied French speaking men abandoned 9 women to a single armed gunman who promptly declared he hated feminists and shot them all.

Following the bloodbath, Canadian feminist Judy Rebick commented on the male shooter, “We would turn our mourning into organizing to put an end to male violence against women.” However, she conveniently gave a pass to the French Canadian men who outnumbered the shooter 50 to 1 but saved themselves while the women died.

It is difficult to criticize a pacifist group like the Amish, but in the Nickel Mines case, the males still lived and the females still died.

There was a shooting where unarmed men went up against an armed gunman and no women died. On September 29, 2006, Eric Hainstock entered Weston High School in Cazenovia, Wisconsin with a shotgun and a handgun. Upon seeing the shotgun, custodian Dave Thompson, fought with him and took the shotgun. Hainstock ran down the hall only to be intercepted by unarmed principal John Klang. Hainstock immediately drew the pistol and shot Klang in the leg, chest, and head. The dying principal successfully disarmed Hainstock and kicked the gun down the hall allowing other teachers to restrain the gunman until police arrived.

Several text messages from the Virginia Tech survivors describe how 76-year-old engineering professor, Liviu Librescu, died holding the classroom door closed as the gunman tried to force his way into the room. The delaying action allowed most of his students to slip out the second story window. Librescu was a Romanian Jew. He survived both a Nazi labor camp and Soviet oppression only to die as an American college professor.

Similarly, student Derek O’Dell blocked his classroom door, even though he was wounded. Between the two of them, Librescu and O’Dell may have saved a dozen or more students.

Today the news pundits are all over the Virginia Tech college police force and administration. Very little analysis considers the Virginia Tech shooting in the context of other school shootings and in the context of the more ominous threat from Muslim terrorists.

Muslim terrorists love soft targets, and schools are full of defenseless children. In southern Thailand, 110 schools have been attacked in the last year and over 500 civilians killed. In Pakistan 183 schools have been attacked in the past 24 months. In Afghanistan, 46 year old Mohammed Halim, was disemboweled, and torn limb from limb by Muslim warriors. His crime was teaching girls. Of course, we cannot forget the Beslan massacre in Russia. One hundred eighty six children died at the hands of Muslim rebels. A reasonable person might assume that the Islamists are closely watching how we handled ourselves at Virginia Tech.

American men of all ages are hardwired to protect their country, their women, their children, the weak, and last of all to protect themselves. They are willing to go up against very long odds and to die in the effort, as did John Klang at Weston and Liviu Librescu at Virginia Tech.

A year ago, the Virginia Legislature banned guns on the Virginia Tech campus. At that time Tech spokesman Larry Hincker expressed pleasure at the Legislature’s action. “I’m sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly’s actions,” said Hincker, “because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.”

Cho Seung-Hui didn’t get the memo. The bad guys never do. Next time, the Virginia Legislature might want to give the men of Virginia a fighting chance instead of a dying chance.
